Bluepoint Wind is an offshore wind project in the early stages of development located off the coast of New Jersey and New York.
Our goal is to responsibly develop a 1,700 MW project and to collaborate with regional stakeholders through long-term partnerships that benefit local communities, ecosystems, and economies.
Bluepoint Wind is a partnership between Ocean Winds, an international offshore wind energy company created by EDP Renewables and ENGIE (50:50), and Global Infrastructure Partners.
Together, these companies have a successful track record of over 50 years of experience in development, financing, construction, and operation of renewables projects, including more than 15 years on offshore wind projects. OW has offshore wind farm projects currently under development, construction, or operating in communities all over the world, including in the UK, France, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, Korea, and – closer to home – in Massachusetts and California.
Bluepoint Wind plans to build an offshore wind farm within its ocean lease area located 38 nautical miles (nm) off the coast of New York and 53 nm off the coast of New Jersey. At full capacity, this wind farm will be able to generate 1.7 gigawatts (GW) of clean wind energy – powering up to 900,000 residential homes and helping NY and NJ meet their ambitious clean energy and carbon emissions reduction goals.
Bluepoint Wind’s Agency Communication Plan (ACP), required by BOEM under Lease Stipulation 22.214.171.124, can be found here. This document outlines Bluepoint Wind’s plan for outreach with federal, state, and local agencies throughout all phases of the wind farm’s development.
By harnessing its experience around the world, Bluepoint Wind will focus on developing projects that adapt to the unique needs and aspirations of stakeholders in the New York Bight.
Bluepoint Wind will endeavor to build projects, programs, and relationships from the ground up to ensure inclusive participation for generations.
Bluepoint Wind will invest in environmental protection, community benefits, and workforce development.
Bluepoint Wind supports a Just Transition that prioritizes investment in historically disadvantaged communities.
Through science, technology and collaboration, Bluepoint Wind will transform challenges into opportunities to find new solutions.
Bluepoint Wind will prioritize a safety-first mindset at every project phase, treating our people, communities, and environment with care.
Bluepoint Wind is strongly committed to the responsible development of our offshore wind farm and multiple uses of the lease area by commercial and recreational fisheries. Bluepoint Wind has assembled and will maintain a fisheries communications team, including a Fisheries Liaison Officer (FLO), for the duration of the project. Bluepoint Wind also works with an experienced Fisheries Industry Representative (FIR) to enhance communications with the fishing community. Our Fisheries Communication Plan (FCP), which is required by BOEM under the lease stipulations (Section 126.96.36.199), is central to Bluepoint Wind’s fisheries engagement strategy and will be the foundation for the project’s efforts to develop and implement best practices and build collaborative relationships with the fishing community.
