On Friday, the team attended the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) Wind Symposium to hear about offshore wind research and monitoring initiatives from NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, NJEDA, and many others. It was also great to hear from NJ Wind Institute Fellows about their research on offshore wind related topics. It will be fascinating to see how this kind of research will shape the future designs of offshore wind turbine foundations!
Over the weekend, we were also honored to sponsor the IEEE NJIT second Hardware Hackathon, where over 150 students had 24 hours to build projects centered around smart city infrastructure and environmental monitoring. The Bluepoint Wind sponsored-subtheme of Marine Conservation received innovative student submissions aimed at monitoring the conditions in landlocked or ocean waters that have real world implications. During a tech talk at the event, team member Sean Simmers provided the students with an introduction to our project and offshore wind in the NY Bight.
Connecting with the future workforce is a priority for our project. We aim to both learn from students and researchers, and provide industry insight to advance a #cleanenergyfuture in the #GardenState.
